It names 51 places across 85 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries 86 reports, narratives and plans, 165 Operation Orders, one defence scheme, ten appendices, 37 maps and seven diagrams. Among the papers are: Preliminary report of raid by 8th Sherwood Foresters on night 4th/5th August 1917; Report on Attempted raid by 8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters, on night of 11th/12th; Report on raid carried out by 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters, on night November 4th; Patrol report 17th/18th May, 1917; Report of Patrol Action; Special Intelligence report; 139th Infantry Brigade Relief Table, issued with order No. 97; Table issued with 139th Infantry Brigade order No. 98; Table issued with 139 Inf Bde order 103; Revised account of Counter attack on 8th Therwood Foreders Holding Trench from E.24.C.4.5; Table to Accompany 139th Infantry Brigade order No. 104. March 19th, 1917; Table "A". issued with 139th Infantry Brigade order No. 110.The diary opens at Fonastre on 1 January 1917. 1917 is spent at St Elie Section, Hill 70, Fouastre, Fonastre and Fouquieres. 1918 is the most travelled year, 46 places against 25 in the next busiest, and is spent at Essars Section, Landrecies, Beuvry, Fouquieres and Gorre Section. 1919 at Bethencourt and Landrecies. It closes at Bethencourt on 30 April 1919. Landrecies is where it spent longest, 79 days across three separate stays, it came back to Fouquieres ten separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 33 days at Beuvry.In 1917 it is also recorded at Pommera, Fonquvillers, Contay, Villers Bocage, Pont De Metz, Fontaine, Kendin-Le Annezin, Noeux Les Mines, Angres and West of Lens. In 1918 it is also recorded at Burbure, Bomy, Annequin, St. Pierre, St Emile Section, Drouvin, Fouquieres Gorre Section, 139th Infantry Brigade Order No. 180, Marles-Les-Mines and Franvillers.
