It names 58 places across 89 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries sixteen reports, narratives and plans, 59 Operation Orders, one defence scheme, four appendices, nine maps and three diagrams. Bde. operation order No. 39; March Table to accompany 146th Infantry Brigade operation order No. 4.The diary opens at Merville on 16 April 1915. 1915 is spent at Near Ypres, Rue Du Quesne, Brielen, Coppernolle and Laventie. 1916 is the most travelled year, 44 places against 17 in the next busiest, and is spent at Vignacourt, Bienvillers, Le Souich, Martinsart and Liepzig Salient. 1917 at Bailleulmont, Laventie and Le Souich. It closes at Laventie on 31 March 1917. Near Ypres is where it spent longest, 135 days across six separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 37 days at Bienvillers.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Liepzig Salient, Trenches Liepzig Salient, Aveluy Wood, Thiepval Wood and Martinsart Wood.In 1915 it is also recorded at La Gorgue, Bac San Maur, Doulieu, Fletre, Proven, Vieule Seule and Wormhoudt. In 1916 it is also recorded at Wormhoudt Bollezeele, Zoutkerque, Calais, Ailly, Harponville, Beaucourt, Molliens Au Bois, Herissart, Puchvillers and Varennes. In 1917 it is also recorded at Bailleulmont-Le Souich, Le Souich-Bonnieres, Bonnieres-Croix, Croix-Sachin, Sachin-St Floris, St Floris-Lestrem and Lestrem-Laventie.
