It names 33 places across 52 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries nineteen reports, narratives and plans, 138 Operation Orders, two appendices and nine maps. Among the papers are: Report on operations of December 19th and night of December 19th/20th, 1915; Relief; Brigade operation orders Nos. 100 & 101 and 1 to 18; Programme of Relief; March Table, Appendix "A" to operation order No. 42; March Table. Appendix to operation order No. 41; Relief Table; Instructions for Move to Hedauville; Additional instructions to O.O. No. 33; Instructions. Appendix to 147th Inf. Brigade operation order No. 24; 147th Infantry Brigade. Preliminary instructions for attack; Notes on attack.The diary opens at Doncaster on 12 April 1915. 1915 is spent at Yser Canal Near Brielen, Near Fleurbaix, Coppernolle Hook, Estaires and St. Janster-Biezen. 1916 is the most travelled year, 29 places against 10 in the next busiest, and is spent at Wargnies, Thiepval Wood, Martinsart, Acheux and Wormhoudt. It closes at Bienvillers on 30 September 1916. Yser Canal Near Brielen is where it spent longest, 134 days across five separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 31 days at Near Fleurbaix.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Thiepval Wood and Aveluy Wood.In 1915 it is also recorded at Boulogne, St. Omer and Elverdinghe. In 1916 it is also recorded at Herzeele and Houtkerque, Esquelbecq, Amiens, Ailly, Camps En Amienois, Molliens Vidame, Dreuil, Molliens Au Bois, Bouzincourt and Warloy.
