Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the Headquarters, Branches and Services Adjutant and Quarter-Master General, 50th Division, covering April 1915 to November 1918 across 386 pages. It names 97 places across 147 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries twenty-six casualty and personnel returns, one report or narrative, one appendix and one diagram. Among the papers are: Burial scheme; 50th (Northumbrian) Division Casualty Return; 50th Division Administrative instructions No. 35.The diary opens at Steenvoorde on 23 April 1915. 1915 is spent at Armentieres, Merris, St. Jans Cappel, Hooggraaf and Poperinghe. 1916 at Hoograaf, Westoutre, Millencourt, Montigny and Fletre. 1917 at Eperlecques, Fricourt Farm, Couin, P.C. Gabrielle and Mericourt Sur-Somme. 1918 is the most travelled year, 61 places against 28 in the next busiest, and is spent at Greges, Beaurieux, Wizernes, Fletre and Rear D.H.Q. Brandhoek. It closes at Dourlers on 30 November 1918. Armentieres is where it spent longest, 115 days across five separate stays, including a single unbroken stay of 31 and it came back to Westoutre seven separate times.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Fricourt Farm, Chateau La Noue, Chateau Montgivreux Mondemont, La Noue Chateau and Guisancourt Farm.In 1915 it is also recorded at Steenvorde and Watou. In 1916 it is also recorded at Bernaville, Vignacourt, Fricourt Farm, Albert and Baizieux. In 1917 it is also recorded at Ribemont, Moillens Au Bois, Molliens Au Bois, Beauval, Boquemaison, Ramecourt, Roellecourt, Le Cauroy, Berneville and Arras. In 1918 it is also recorded at Ypres, Brandhoek, Ramparts Ypres, Advd D.H.Q. Ramparts Ypres, Moreuil, Harbonnieres, Beaumetz, Le Mesnil, Villers Carbonnel and Foucaucourt.
