It names 58 places across 73 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries three reports, narratives and plans, one appendix, seventeen maps and eight diagrams. Among the papers are: Report on Work carried out by 1st/2nd Highland Field Company R.E during Period from 2nd; Instructions in Alignment Posts; Notes on attack.The diary opens at Anzin St Aubyn on 1 July 1916. 1916 is spent at Anzin St Aubyn, Ravine Between Fricourt And Becourt, Candas, Armentieres and Forceville. 1917 at Anzin St. Aubin, Ovillers Post, Doignies, Boiry Becquerelle and Havrincourt Wood. 1918 is the most travelled year, 34 places against 17 in the next busiest, and is spent at Ecurie, Paillencourt, Lebucquiere, Doignies and Nanteuil. 1919 at Houdeng Goegnies Belgium, Manage and Paillencourt. It closes at Manage on 31 March 1919. Anzin St. Aubin is where it spent longest, 120 days across four separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 48 days at Ecurie.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Havrincourt Wood.In 1917 it is also recorded at Bailleul Aux Cornailles, Antin, Hezecques, Clercques, Canal Bank 1000 Yds N Of Ypres, Peselhoek, Courcelles Le Comte, Beaulencourt, Ytres and Flesquieres.
