Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the Brigade Trench Mortar Battery, 154 Infantry Brigade, 51st Division, covering January 1916 to February 1918 across 354 pages. It names 118 places across 185 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries six Operation Orders and three maps.The diary opens at Cardonette on 14 January 1916. 1916 is spent at Armentieres, Cardonette, La Neuville and Auchonvillers. 1917 is the most travelled year, 77 places against 58 in the next busiest, and is spent at Nolette, Coy. Hqrs "E" Camp. A. 30 Central, Maroeuil, Penin and Kinderbelck. 1918 at Basseux, Fremicourt, Buchanan Camp, Moeuvres 1:20000 and Line. S.W. of Moeuvres. It closes at Fremicourt on 19 February 1918. Armentieres is where it spent longest, 31 days, it came back to Moeuvres 1:20000 twelve separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 24 days at Cardonette.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Coy. Hqrs. Cane Trench, Mametz Wood, Mailly Wood, Coy. Hqrs. Ferdinand Farm, Mailly Matllet Wood and Beaumont Hamel Mailly Wood.In 1916 it is also recorded at Mirvaux, Boyau A, A 22 Roclincourt 51 B.N.W.I, A 22 51. BNWI, Etrun, Herlin Le Vert Brevillers, Brevillers Bernaville, Bernaville, Meaulte and Mametz Wood. In 1917 it is also recorded at Ovillers, R 29 Central, Rubempre, Domesmont, Neuf Moulin, Forest Dabbaye, Acquet, Boffles, Nuncq and Orlencourt. In 1918 it is also recorded at Courcelles-Le-Comte, Pommier and Lens. 11. 1:100000.
