Lancs Regt. and 2/5th; Instruction for Billeting 6-1-15; Amendment to March Table attached to operation order No. 33; Special order of the Day 55th (West Lancashire) Division.The diary opens at Martinsart on 1 January 1916. 1916 is the most travelled year, 30 places against 12 in the next busiest, and is spent at Ypres, Bretencourt, Chateau Bretencourt, Vieulaine and Buire. 1917 is spent at Ypres, Bollezeele, Ganspette, Watou and Houtkerque. It closes at Ypres on 31 July 1917. Ypres is where it spent longest, 238 days across twelve separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 31 days at Bretencourt.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Chateau Bretencourt, Monplasir Farm, Chateau Fosseux and Monplaisir Farm.In 1916 it is also recorded at In The Rich, Montonvillers, Argoeuves, Longpre, Ribeaucourt, Monplasir Farm, Sarton, Saulty, Chateau and March 2.
