It names 179 places across 342 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries seventeen reports, narratives and plans, 66 Operation Orders, one appendix and two maps. Among the papers are: Operation order Reference Map Guillemont 1/20000; 1/5th. Battalion "The King's" (Liverpool Regiment) operation orders,. No. 20; Addendum to 165 Infantry Brigade operation order (Preliminary) No. 129; To All Recipients of operation order No. 86 a.The diary opens at Bethune on 1 January 1916. 1916 is spent at Beaumetz, Wailly and Ypres. 1917 at Zutkerque, Ypres, Lempire, Y Camp and Millain. 1918 is the most travelled year, 121 places against 88 in the next busiest, and is spent at Festubert, Givenchy, Predefin, Gorre and Vaudricourt. 1919 at Uccle. It closes at Uccle Brussels on 30 April 1919. Uccle is where it spent longest, 192 days across eight separate stays, it came back to Festubert twenty separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 31 days at Ypres.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Wailly Trenches, Potijze Trenches, Trenches Givenchy, Trenches, Guillemont Farm, Trenches Festubert Right Sub, Trenches Ficheux and Trenches Guillemont Farm.In 1916 it is also recorded at Bertrancourt, Citernes, Talmas, Longpre, Berteaucourt, Bethencourt, Bonneville, Canaples, Halloy and Monchiet. In 1917 it is also recorded at Moulle N.W. Stomer, "O" Camp, In Trenches, Ecole, "C" Camp, B Camp, Brandhoek, Merckeghem, Prison. Ypres and Potijze Trenches. In 1918 it is also recorded at Fontaine Les Boulans, Fontaine Lez Boulans, Rely Busnettes, Hingette, Trenches Givenchy, Beuvry, Pont Fixe North Village Line, Ferme Du Roi, Givenchy Right Section and Festubert Right Sub.
