It names 47 places across 53 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries nine reports, narratives and plans, sixteen Operation Orders, one appendix, one map and one diagram. Among the papers are: March Table issued with C.R.E's operation order No. 14; March Table to Accompany C.R.E's operation order No. 19; 502nd Wessex Field Co. R.E. Standing orders; Administrative Arrangements Reference 57th Divisional order Number 77. Appendix a; 170th Inf. Bde. Admin Instruction No.23 with Reference to 170th Inf Bde order No 115; 170th Infantry Brigade Instruction No.52.The diary opens at Blackdown on 1 February 1917. 1917 is spent at Fleurbaix, Armentieres, Blackdown, Flechinelle France 1/20,000 36A SW and Calais 13 1-100,000 3.F.3.2. 1918 is the most travelled year, 26 places against 18 in the next busiest, and is spent at Gommecourt Wood E 28 C9.6, Bus-En-Artois J.20. C3.9, Louez, Erquinghem 36 4.8.b.9.2 and Couin J.16.9.6. 1919 at Louez and No.3 Embarkation Camp Dunkerque. It closes at No.3 Embarkation Camp Dunkerque on 10 June 1919. Louez is where it spent longest, 71 days across three separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 31 days at Louez Near Arras.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Gommecourt Wood E 28 C9.6.In 1917 it is also recorded at Southampton, Le Havre, Baileul, Vieux Berquin, Sailly-Sur-La Lys, Fleurbaix France 1:10,000 N.W.3, Wackland Camp B.136.4.9, Flechinelle, Campagne and Canal D'Yser C.19.H.0.5. In 1918 it is also recorded at Estaires L.32.b7.6, Estaires L.32.6.7.6 100,000, Steenbecque F.4.9.2, Warluzel 4 F.6.6, Mondicourt 54.F.61, Amplier 5 E.7.6, Halloy 5F.18, Sus St Leger 4F.2.8, Wanquentin 3H.30.jo and Arras. In 1919 it is also recorded at Louez Near Arras, Louez N Arras and Louez In Arras.
