Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the 2/7 Battalion, King's (Liverpool Regiment), 171 Infantry Brigade, 57th Division, covering January 1917 to May 1919 across 1,453 pages. It names 118 places across 236 dated entries. The diary is large enough to have been published in two parts, of which this is one.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one list of honours and awards, 623 reports, narratives and plans, 105 Operation Orders, one defence scheme, eleven appendices and one diagram. V.D. 2/7th Bn. the King's (Liverpool Regiment); Battalion Orders. 2/7th Bn. the King's (Liverpool Regt); Operation orders No. 7 V.D; Raid on enemy Trench by Detachment of the 2/7th Bn. the King's (Liverpool Regiment); Operation orders V.D; Detail for Lewis Guns Re operation orders No. 14 "G" Bn; German raid on Left Sector night; Relief Table; Preliminary instructions with Regard to a Company of the C.E.P. Being attached to This.The diary opens at Meneton Camp on 1 January 1917. 1917 is spent at Armentieres, Houplines, Estree Blanche, Elverdinghe and Heurbaix. 1918 at Fives, Pont De Nieppe, Arras, Le Sart and Couin Wood. 1919 at Wanquetin, Wanquentin, Maroeuil, Havre and Southampton. It closes at Southampton on 16 May 1919. Armentieres is where it spent longest, 70 days across twelve separate stays, it came back to Houplines fifteen separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 31 days at Wanquentin.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Couin Wood, Rossignol Farm, Gommecourt Wood, Chateau De La Haie, Marsouin Farm, Lafolie Wood, Eagle Trench and Fagle Trench.In 1917 it is also recorded at Steenwerck, Erquinghem, L'epinette, Brookwood, Havre, Folkestone, Boulougne, Bailleul Strazeele, Strazeele and Estaires. In 1918 it is also recorded at Erquinghem, Houplines, L'epinette, Armentieres, Convent Armentieres, Rue D'erquinghem, St Hilaire Cottes, Robermetz Merville, Nouveau Monde and Bois Grenier.
