Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the 7 INDIAN (MEERUT) DIVISION 20 (Garhwal) Indian Infantry Brigade Headquarters, covering July 1914 to May 1915 across 1,639 pages. It names 35 places across 55 dated entries. The diary is large enough to have been published in two parts, of which this is one.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries 67 reports, narratives and plans, 77 Operation Orders and twelve diagrams. Among the papers are: Instructions; Instruction; Operation order No; Operation order numbered 14 to 32 (5 of them); Instructions Anderson, Meerut Division; Special order; Instructions, Meerut Division; Medical operation order No. 11 Surgeon, Meerut Division; 2nd Bde operation order No. 1; Orders for the Brigade While in Divisional Reserve.The diary opens at Acuresires on 26 July 1914. 1914 is the most travelled year, 28 places against 21 in the next busiest, and is spent at Acuresires, Cse Du Raux, La Couture, Orleans and Camp La Valentine. 1915 is spent at Ecquedecques, Vieille Chapelle, La Couture, Croix Barbee and Richebourg St Vaast. It closes at Croix Barbee on 31 May 1915. La Couture is where it spent longest, 43 days across eight separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 39 days at Acuresires.In 1914 it is also recorded at Karachi, Parade State, Suzz, Port Said, Marseilles, Rest Camp La Velintine, Lilliers, Calonne, Cas Du Raux and Richebourg L'Avoue Position. In 1915 it is also recorded at Couture To Richebourg St Vaast, Cense Du Raux, Leslobes, E Of Rickeboug St Vaast, Neuve Chapelle, Near Zelobes, East Of Vieille Chapelle, Calonne, Pont Du Hem and Rue Des Puits.
