Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The aphorism usually attributed to the French statesman Count Mirabeau, that Prussia was "not a country with an army but an army with a country", remains two centuries later a common way of introducing a discussion of 18th and 19th century Prussia. This is a compilation edition of three wonderful 19th century series of colourful military costume plates, detailing the pre-unification Prussian Army, in accurately hand-coloured images, complete with lively commentary from expert Ray Westlake on each individual plate.Over 400 military figures are shown in their 'natural surroundings': camping, in battle, on horseback, on the march, etc. This edition forms part of our developing range of books dedicated to uniformology. Drawing on seminal works from the 18th and 19th century, they are masterpieces of military art, and important historical reference works.Die Soldaten Friedrich's des GrossenMilitary from the time of Frederick the GreatPreussische Heer, Das, unter Friedrich Wilhelm IVThe Prussian Army, under Friedrich Wilhelm IVDie Königl.
