Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

his is a Regimentally published title that covers a unit of 6th Armoured Division that was issued with Crusader cruiser tanks alongside the Valentine and Matilda infantry tanks. The regiment embarked on troopships for the Tunisian Campaign, fought at the Battle of Kasserine, Ebba Ksour and Kairouan. At the end of 1942, and thereafter served during the Italian campaign, Cassino, The River Arno and The break-through to the River Po, until the end of the war. Landing in Italy on 18 March 1944, having remained in North Africa following the conclusion of the Tunisian campaign, the regiment fought in the battle for the Gustav Line, forcing a way up the Liri Valley, and then took part in the battle for the Gothic Line. Written so shortly after the cessation of hostilities, this account has an immediacy that modern histories lack. An excellent Armoured history that concludes with Honours & Awards, a Roll of Honour and four clear oversized maps. The list of Battle Honours awarded to the 2nd Regiment Lothians and Border Horse, for the two campaigns covered in the publication, show hard-won battles against a determined foe that comprised in Tunisia of German, Italian and collaborative Vichy French forces, and in Italy led by Field Marshal Albert Kesselring the German Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS.NORTH AFRICA¿ Jan 1943 Bou Arada¿ Feb 1943 Kasserine Pass¿ Feb 1943 Thala (south of)¿ Mar 1943 Ebba Ksour and Kairouan¿ Apr 1943 Fondouk¿ Apr 1943 Goubellat Plain (Sidi Khalif, Salt Lake & Mosque Hill)¿ May 1943 Hammam Lif¿ May 1943 Bou Ficha¿ May 1943 TunisITALY¿ May 1944 Cassino¿ July 1944 Arezzo¿ Aug 1944 The River Arno¿ Apr 1944 Bondeno¿ Apr 1945 The River Po
