Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Newcastle's Collingridge was a well-known and respected Ju-Jitsuka of the early 1900s. His manual 'Tricks of Self Defence' deploys all that he learned from Sensei Tani.As a coach himself to the Admiralty and a manager of visiting Japanese Ju-Jitsuka who travelled the shows of the UK taking on all comers in wrestling bouts, Collingridge knows his craft well. This self-defence oriented guide showcases techniques to escape or counter typically assaults one may find on the street such as lapel grabs and headlocks. All detailed in simple easy to follow text and clear imagery that uses the clothes of time instead of the Keiko-Gi famous in Judo and Ju Jitsu. This guide is a prime example of the burgeoning 'British school of Ju-Jitsu' which increasingly took on its own style and flavour to suit Western physicality and clothing. A fantastic read for fans of Edwardian antagonistics and arts like Bartitsu.
