When a reporter for The New York Times suspects a business tycoon and former Olympic athlete of murdering his wife she goes undercover as a horse trainer at his mansion to uncover the truth, but instead of finding clues that incriminate him, she finds herself helplessly falling for the man she suspected of murder in this romantic tale by the author of Indiscretion. As her career and life hit a slump, an accomplished reporter for The New York Times, Alexandra Webster, jumps on the potentially explosive story of the mysterious death of the socialite wife of business tycoon and former Olympic boxer Steve Chapman.Certain that he is guilty of murder, Alex disguises herself as a horse trainer to gain access to Steve’s estate, isolated on a rugged tropical island in southern Florida, but she is completely unprepared for the attraction she feels for the man she thinks is a killer. As she works her way into Steve’s world, her suspicions slowly give way to a heartfelt belief in the innocence of a man who fights to protect his young son from tormenting rumors and struggles to put his painful marriage behind him.As their love deepens, Alex fears that her own ambitious scheme may shatter the trust and caring that have brought the two of them together.
