PREVIOUS COLLECTION WON THE GOVERNOR GENERAL'S LITERARY AWARD: Steven Heighton's previous poetry collection, The Waking Comes Late, received the Governor General's Literary Award for Poetry, among other acclaim. This return to poetry after five years will get a lot of buzz.ACCLAIMED AUTHOR IN MANY FORMS AND GENRES:Apart from his award-winning and highly acclaimed poetry collections, Steven Heighton is also the author of several works of fiction, including the novels Afterland and The Nightingale Won't Let You Sleep. As well, he is the author of the forthcoming Groundwood picture book The Stray and the Stranger based on his experience helping refugees in Greece. Heighton's wide variety of writing can bring him attention far beyond what a poet normally garners.FIRST SELECTED WORK FROM ONE OF THE MOST ACCLAIMED CONTEMPORARY POETS: As an internationally prominent poet with many acclaimed collections, Heighton is well positioned for a work of selected poems. Previous Anansi selected poetry collections like A. F. Moritz's The Sparrow and Michael Crummey's Little Dogs have brought new attention to the poets and sparked reassessments and retrospectives of their careers up to that point, and we expect Heighton's collection to do the same for him.PREVIOUS MEDIA ATTENTION FOR STEVEN HEIGHTON:- 11 POIGNANT BOOKS FROM EXCELLENT WRITERS IN MODERN FICTION: wiki.ezvid.com chooses The Nightingale Won't Let You Sleep- A-FRAME: Katherine Leyton's A-frame interview with Steven Heighton- SOME OTHER JUST ONES: An animated short by Caroline O'Neill- IF NOBODY CALLS, I'M GLAD: An excerpt from a talk at Concordia, April 2011- WORDS ALOUD 2011: Steven Heighton reads "Herself, Revised" and "Dream"- CROSSING THE BORDERS BETWEEN US: THE ETHICS OF INTERVENTION & RESISTANCE: Steven Heighton reads.
