Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

This autobiography of the life of Bill Maddox, from his first desires to be a broadcaster, sitting before a small lamp (he used as a microphone) at the age of 8, traverses through the turbulent decade of the 1960s, and the devastating aftermath of the 1970 Lubbock tornado and for a total of 57 years, most of which he served as a television news anchorman. The early description of his small-town upbringing in New Mexico magically transports the reader to an America of a time that has long passed, never to return in our lifetime. This is the story of a modest, gentle man who grew up while the industry to which he would devote his life's work was also growing up and maturing. This memoir serves as a short course into the memorable events that dominated newscasts during the second half of the 20th Century and boldly enters century 21.
