Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

London, 1872. Already traumatized by the death of their mother, Elizabeth and Jane Mary Dubbin don't understand why a strange woman is packing their clothes and taking them out of their home. Just that morning their Papa had told them to stay inside. Were they being kidnapped to be sold as slaves? Were they to become prisoners? Instead, this was the beginning of their years at Ilford Orphanage. Heartfelt and immersive, The Dubbin Girls is an epic work of historical fiction. Who would have thought that two little English girls, abandoned by their grieving and heartbroken father, would form the foundation of a sprawling family in a new land? The challenges they face are not so different from those faced by today's families, and their faith in God and righteousness supports them as well during the first half of the twentieth century as it does for believers today, one hundred years later. Author Bio: Ruth Johnsen began her writing career as feature editor of her high school newspaper. Her articles have appeared in Greenprints, Reminisce, as well as the Chicago Tribune. "Missions Possible, her previous, non-fiction book described unusual efforts by missionaries including one family who built a miniature golf course in Ecuador. She resides in a senior citizen complex in Columbia, Missouri.
