Two months: Emma Smythe can't believe how her life has changed in two months, from a daughter working with her father in his blacksmith shop to a bride to a woman on a trip to another world. In the historical Christian novel by author Shirley Doering, The Blest Life of Emma Smythe, Emma was a young girl living in 1800s England, caring for her large family and working with her father. However, her carefree life endured hardship at the hands of her violent older brother, to the point where Emma was beaten up by her brother. Local townspeople aided her recovery, including the young son of a family friend, Henry. When Henry asked for Emma's hand in marriage, she was surprised but ready for the life change. Now, together in marriage, Emma and Henry prepare to become first-time parents and joining others on a hopeful voyage to the United States.
