Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A study of the symbolic and historical traditions associated with Rosicrucianism and Freemasonry within the broader development of Western esoteric thought. In Rosicrucian and Masonic Origins, Manly P. Hall examines the emergence and evolution of two closely associated currents within the Western esoteric tradition. Drawing upon historical accounts, symbolic interpretation, and comparative analysis, Hall traces the development of Rosicrucian ideas and their relationship to the rituals, philosophies, and institutional forms of Freemasonry. The work situates these traditions within a larger framework of Hermetic, mystical, and philosophical inquiry.Hall's treatment is characterised by its synthetic approach, combining elements of historical narrative with interpretive commentary on symbols, allegory, and initiatory structures. Rather than presenting a strictly documentary account, the text reflects an attempt to articulate underlying continuities between different strands of esoteric thought, exploring how concepts of transformation, hidden knowledge, and moral discipline are expressed across traditions.First published in the early twentieth century, the work forms part of Hall's broader contribution to the study and popularisation of esoteric philosophy. It remains of interest to readers of Western mysticism, the history of secret societies, and the symbolic language of fraternal orders.
