Throughout his life he wrote numerous letters to editors, scientists, journalists, and public figures, responding to controversies, clarifying his discoveries, and commenting on the scientific and political questions of his time. Collected here are more than forty of Tesla's letters, gathered from historical publications and archival sources. The subjects range widely. In these pages Tesla responds to the claims of Guglielmo Marconi, addresses disputes with Thomas Edison, comments on scientific developments and world events, and corrects misunderstandings that appeared in newspapers and technical journals. The letters reveal a mind constantly engaged with new ideas and deeply concerned with how his work-and the work of others-was represented to the public.Best known for his revolutionary work on alternating current electrical systems, wireless transmission, and high-frequency electrical engineering, Tesla helped shape the technological foundations of the modern world.
