Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

ARTS, CRAFTS AND TRADITIONAL INDUSTRIES [BOOK 3]: here is another in Dr. Asim K. Dasgupta’s fascinating series on arts and crafts. The chapters in this volume range from bead work technique, candle making and flower arranging, to massive enterprise such as construction of hovercraft. With the author, you will journey to such far flung corners of the world as the Dominican Republic (where amber is mined), Lake Titicaca (where they make islands out of reeds), and in India, where delicate works of art are made out of the same ‘sholapith’ as was used to make the original ‘pith helmets’. Food lovers will relish the chapters on fishing and cheese production. Whatever your interests, you will find something here to intrigue and inspire you – and a salutary warning about the health issues attaching to each craft. As in every book in the series, the splendid photographs enhance the text and convey the skill and dedication of those who practice these wonderful activities.
