Der bekannte US-amerikanische Krimi-Bestseller-Autor David Baldacci, geboren 1960 in Virginia, war bereits in der Kindheit mit dem Schreiben beschäftigt. Er studierte Politikwissenschaften an der Virginia Commonwealth University und Jura an der University of Virginia School of Law. Bevor Baldacci sich ganz auf das Schreiben fokussierte, war er als Strafverteidiger und Wirtschaftsjurist in Washington tätig. Sein Debüt machte der Autor 1996 mit dem Titel "Absolute Power" (deutsch: "Der Präsident"), welcher ein Jahr darauf mit Clint Eastwood und Gene Hackman verfilmt wurde. Neben seinen Bestseller-Thrillern, welche unter anderem die erfolgreiche Reihe um den "Camel Club", die "Sean King und Michelle Maxwell"-Reihe und die "Atlee Pine"-Serie umfassen, hat Baldacci auch das biografisch gefärbte Familiendrama "Wish you well" (deutsch: "Das Versprechen") verfasst.
