James Brendan Patterson, geboren 1947 in Newburgh, New York, gehört mit einer weltweiten Gesamtauflage von 375 Millionen Romanexemplaren zu den erfolgreichsten Bestseller-Autoren unserer Gegenwart. Er hat mehrere erfolgreiche Serien und Charaktere kreiert, darunter die Alex-Cross-Reihe, die Michael-Bennett-Reihe, "Der Club der Ermittlerinnen", "Maximum Ride" sowie die Kinderbuchreihen "School Survival" und "Max Einstein". 2018 erschien der in Zusammenarbeit mit Ex-US-Präsident Bill Clinton verfasste Thriller "The President Is Missing".
