Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

From the master of Scandinavian noir, a beautiful new edition of the bestselling "tale rich in gritty local culture" (Los Angeles Times) in the Kurt Wallander series, set in the newly post-Soviet Latvia

A life raft drifts ashore on the coast of Skåne, Sweden, carrying two dead men in expensive suits--tortured, executed, and left to the mercy of the cold Baltic Sea. Inspector Kurt Wallander takes the case, traces the victims to a ruthless network of Eastern European criminals, and hands the evidence to Major Liepa of the Riga police. When a grisly follow-up murder occurs, Wallander is pulled out of his familiar Swedish landscape and thrust into the heart of Riga--a city still raw from decades of Soviet rule, where surveillance is a reflex, corruption runs deep, and the line between ally and enemy dissolves without warning. Henning Mankell brings his "uncommon skill at devising dense, multilayered plots." (The New York Times Book Review) to bear on a novel that is equal parts police procedural and Cold War thriller--taut, atmospheric, and relentlessly suspenseful. Dogs of Riga confirms Wallander's place among crime fiction's most compelling protagonists: an ordinary man doing extraordinary, dangerous work in a world that offers him no map and no guarantees. This relaunch edition presents the complete Wallander series in a bold new light, as every volume features a striking, newly commissioned cover design and a fully redesigned interior, built for a new generation of readers.
