Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

New York State is an excellent place to learn about birds with its diversity of ecosystems to explore and a bird species list that tops 500. Located along the Atlantic flyway, the Empire State is a mecca for migration, especially among raptors, shorebirds, and songbirds. Central Park on the island of Manhattan is one of the tops places in the Northeast to see migrating warblers, vireos, flycatchers, tanagers, orioles, thrushes, and sparrows. The Finger Lakes region is an important overwintering site for waterfowl, and grasslands support state bird Eastern Bluebird. It can be dizzying to get acquainted with so many species, so it helps to establish a foundation of knowledge about the state’s most representative birds. You can do so with the portable reference New York State Birds, which features beautiful illustrations of 140 common and familiar birds as well as an ecoregion map showing over 20 bird-finding hotspots and learning sites. Laminated for durability, this lightweight, 12-panel folding pocket guide is the perfect companion for educators, learners, naturalists, and birders who wish to sharpen their bird identification skills and peer more closely into birds’ fascinating lives. Made in the USA.
