Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Iowa is a fertile ground for wildlife study, owing to its seven national wildlife refuges and 110,000-acre wetland management district. With its vast, sweeping plains, including tallgrass prairie, floodplains, pothole wetlands, and river valleys, the Hawkeye State hosts massive congregations of wildlife, especially migratory waterfowl and cranes. There are also iconic mammals such as American Badger, Black-tailed Prairie Dog, Mule Deer, and White-tailed Deer. Animals are seen by many as the face of an ecosystem, so it helps to get acquainted with the most familiar ones. The portable reference Iowa Wildlife is the perfect tool for doing so as it features 140 common species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fishes, butterflies, and other insects as well as an ecoregion map showing over 20 wildlife-viewing hotspots and learning sites. Laminated for durability, this lightweight, 12-panel folding pocket guide is the ideal companion for educators, learners, naturalists, birders, and wildlife enthusiasts who wish to deepen their understanding of Iowa’s landscapes and their attendant animals. Made in the USA.
