Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Echoes of Light is modern, with comments about social and Indigenous issues, old and new, splashes of flash fiction and memoirs, a sprinkling of poetry, creative profiles, geological phenomena, historical reveals, and bits of nontraditional people. The intent is to give readers refreshing changes of pace throughout the book and unexpected genres with every turn of the page."Echoes of Light celebrates relationships-between light and shadow, curve and line, word and image, each element a surprising echo of its opposite. Joyner's photographs are as technically sumptuous-and exquisitely seen-as they are challenging to the eye, often hovering on the edge of abstraction. In response, Gerkin's witty, wide-ranging, learned, yet warmly engaging texts sprout from the images generosity, weaving word-frames that don't constrain the photos so much as build imaginative worlds around them. "Echoes" is, ultimately, a deeply satisfying word-and-image adventure." - Pamela Petro, author and Photographer"The images and words click, they build, they dance with one another before moving on to the next partner. The effect is exhilarating." - Robin Hemley, author, educator, traveler
