Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Explore Northern Virginia's abandoned mansions, historic sites, and forgotten relics, revealing the beauty in decay and forgotten history.Northern Virginia, a giant suburb of Washington, D.C., is a very affluent part of the country, yet abandonments are not hard to find. Read about two opulent mansions, the history of prominent suffragists and their fate at Lorton Prison, and a quirky replica of Stonehenge. Understand the history of religion in Virginia and visit houses that were long ago occupied by families as the nation was being formed. Learn about old trucks that are in a field rusting away. These spots will never give up their most guarded secrets, but local photographer Liz Roll captures the beauty of these decaying places and many others with astounding truth and clarity. The photographs tell the tales of these structures with grit, and sometimes, wit.
