Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Disasters refer to severe disruptions that affect the functioning of a community, to an extent which is beyond its coping capacity using its own resources. Technical, natural, and man-made risks, along with a number of other factors make a community vulnerable and exposed to disasters. Remote sensing is a technique of gathering data about the Earth through the use of satellites and drones. Remote sensing data is helpful in monitoring, predicting, and managing disasters. Satellites contain sensors that are capable of taking measurements at regular intervals and at different wavelengths. All the data collected by these sensors can be used for disaster monitoring. It can also be utilized to estimate the rate of recovery in disaster-affected regions, based on signs such as reconstruction, vegetation regrowth, and debris removal. The topics covered in this extensive book deal with the application of remote sensing technologies for monitoring and prediction of disasters. It will provide comprehensive knowledge to the readers.
