Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Futuristic, nightmarish, and riveting from start to finish, When the Sleeper Wakes is a dystopian tale by science fiction pioneer H. G. Wells. A Londoner named Graham takes insomnia-curing drugs on a night in 1897, but when he wakes up, he's living in 2100. While he's been asleep, much of the world has changed, including the formation of the 'White Council' who uses the fortune that Graham inherited to establish a new political and economic world order. The White Council didn't expect Graham to wake up, and word spreads like wildfire that the 'Sleeper' has awakened, and people begin to demand to see him. Instead, Graham is placed on house arrest, where he suddenly learns that he is the owner and leader of the world. However, the White Council doesn't want Graham to take back his power now that he's awake. Confused and afraid, Graham teams up with a group of Rebels who help him escape his imprisonment in exchange for joining the revolutionaries in taking down the White Council. When the Sleeper Wakes is a story about oppression, betrayal, and mistrust. In an unfamiliar world, who can you trust, if anyone? H. G. Wells is known for his masterful writing and his new, progressive visions for the future of society. When the Sleeper Wakes is just one of the predictive, prophetic works that awarded H. G. Wells his incredible popularity and named him the "father of science fiction."
