Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"But [Lincoln] that colossal central figure, playing one of the grandest roles ever set upon the stage of human life, becomes more impressive as the scenes recede…" —Francis Fisher Browne in Preface of the First Edition, 1886 The Every-Day Life of Abraham Lincoln—A Narrative and Descriptive Biography With Pen-Pictures and Personal Recollections by Those Who Knew Him offers a detailed biography of Abraham Lincoln's life: it follows him from his childhood to his beginning as a lawyer, from his start in politics to his role as president during the Civil War. Author Francis Fisher Browne, by speaking with many friends and contemporaries, wanted "to present material from which the reader may form an opinion of Lincoln, rather than to present opinions and judgments of his own."This book was originally published in 1886, and revised in 1913. This edition was published especially celebrating the one hundred and sixth anniversary in 1915 of the birth of Abraham Lincoln by the Lincoln Centennial Association of Springfield, Illinois.Other well-known books about Abraham Lincoln, such as The Life of Abraham Lincoln by Ida Tarbell, Abraham Lincoln: A History by John Hay and John Nicolay, Abraham Lincoln by Lord Charnwood, Herndon’s Lincoln by William Herndon and Jesse Weik are also available from Cosimo Classics.
