Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

It was August 1964 when Congress overwhelmingly passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution that President Johnson eagerly signed into law. In essence, it was an unofficial declaration of war against North Vietnam, carte blanche, without any checks or balances. It was the beginning of America's deep dive into a quagmire that would be catastrophic, resulting in an enormous loss of lifeblood and treasure. In a fascinating chronicling of the history of the Vietnam war and his personal experiences in the military at that time, Robert Lawrence invites others on an incredible journey into America's Vietnam apocalypse and era to highlight key facts behind the war that include the lie that led the US to take command and a US Army mutiny. Included are his own experiences in both Korea and Vietnam that offer insights into his clashes with his Armed Forces Vietnam Network superiors over news censorship, the resulting court-martial charges with the potential of a trial and imprisonment, reconnaissance missions during horrific attacks, and an exile deeper into the war zone where he hovered near death on three separate occasions. Good Night, Vietnam reveals the unknown history behind the Vietnam War and the amazing experiences of a rebellious Army broadcaster as he fought to survive and speak his truth.
