Erika Leonard, geboren 1963 in London, ist eine britische Schriftstellerin, die unter dem Pseudonym E. L. James vor allem für ihre erotische Roman-Trilogie "Shades of Grey" bekannt wurde. Mittlerweile wurden mehr als 125 Millionen Exemplare verkauft. James war 25 Jahre lang fürs Fernsehen tätig, bevor sie 2011 unter dem Titel "Fifty Shades of Grey" den ersten Teil ihre weltberühmte Trilogie schuf und zum Bestseller-Erfolg wurde. 2015 wurde der erste Band verfilmt, die Folgeteile schafften es 2017 und 2019 in die Kinos und waren nicht weniger erfolgreich.
