Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Behind some of the most influential dialogues of Plato lies a world of cosmic order, divine intelligence, primordial humanity, sacred love, and the mysterious relationship between names, forms, and reality.Philosophy and Esotericism of Plato brings together four remarkable Platonic works-Timaeus, Critias, Cratylus, and Symposium-whose ideas would echo through centuries of philosophical, mystical, and esoteric thought. In Timaeus, Plato presents a vision of the ordered cosmos, the Demiurge, the World Soul, the elements, and the creation of humanity. Critias recounts the legendary civilization of Atlantis and its destruction. Cratylus investigates the mysterious relationship between language, names, and the true nature of things, while Symposium ascends through the mysteries of Eros and beauty toward contemplation of Beauty itself.Together, these dialogues supplied later Platonists, Neoplatonists, Renaissance philosophers, mystics, occultists, and esoteric thinkers with ideas that they developed into elaborate visions of the universe and humanity's place within it. This collection invites readers to return to the Platonic sources themselves and encounter the philosophical foundations upon which those later traditions drew-exploring a legacy in which philosophy, cosmology, myth, metaphysics, and the search for hidden wisdom repeatedly converge.
