"This tale... will keep you riveted to every word, every page as Maggie Thom weaves a brilliant cloth of the many colors of deceit." Dii (Tome Tender) Some secrets are worth killing for.Fired from her job as a reporter, Sam Overton retreats to her family's abandoned lake cabin-the last place she saw her father alive over twenty years ago. She's been told he'd committed suicide, but the memories that surface don't add up. And the heavily guarded compound that's appeared at the north end of the lake? That's raising even more questions.Keegan Wesley arrives at his late grandfather's cabin with his own mission: to uncover the truth about a death that was ruled natural but feels anything but. When he discovers that all four original cabin owners have died under suspicious circumstances, he knows he's onto something dangerous.Thrown together by circumstance and a shared need for answers, Sam and Keegan stumble into a deadly conspiracy that's been hidden in plain sight for decades. Bodies are buried beside the lake's serene surface. A criminal empire operates from its shores. And the man behind it all has already killed to protect his secrets-and won't hesitate to kill again. With armed men closing in and no one to trust, Sam and Keegan must expose the truth before they become the next victims.
