Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) has evolved over the years into a mainstream supportive therapy that has saved countless lives that otherwise would have been considered lost. As the global use of ECMO grows each year, so does our collective understanding of this very complex, invasive, and challenging therapy. While ECMO is more of a supportive therapy than a curative one, its use sometimes helps provide the greatest need in patient care - time to treat and time to allow the body to heal.
