Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The India General Service Medal 1895 Casualty Roll, by the late Anthony Farrington, former Librarian, at the India Office, is a definitive reference work documenting approximately 2,400 officers and men who became casualties during the campaigns commemorated by the 1895 India General Service Medal. originally Published by the London Stamp Exchange in 1987, this 166-page volume provides a detailed and carefully organised record of casualties across seven campaign clasps. The roll is arranged by clasp and regiment, with individual entries recording details such as the nature of wounds and gallantry awards. The work is further enhanced by facsimiles of contemporary despatches, adding valuable primary-source material to the detailed casualty listings. The campaigns covered include the Defence and Relief of Chitral (1895), Punjab Frontier (1897-98), Malakand (1897), Samana (1897), Tirah (1897-98), and Waziristan (1901-02). By bringing together casualty information from these widely documented frontier campaigns in a single volume, Farrington provides an important resource for medal researchers, military historians and collectors seeking to identify and understand the service and experiences of individual recipients. A specialised and useful reference, this is an essential addition to any serious library covering the India General Service Medal and the campaigns of the North-West Frontier.
