Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

For Distinguished Conduct in the Field: The Register of the Distinguished Conduct Medal 1939-1992 by the late George A. Brown is a comprehensive reference to the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM), the British Army's second-highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy, ranking immediately below the Victoria Cross. Originally published in 1993, the book covers DCM awards from the outbreak of the Second World War through the end of the Gulf War, spanning 1939 to 1992. It records more than 2,120 awards and provides an invaluable source for researchers, historians, military enthusiasts, and those tracing individual recipients. A particular strength of the work is its detailed documentation of the original recommendations for many Second World War recipients, reproduced in full. Entries are cross-referenced with their publication dates in the London Gazette, while post-war awards include official citations for actions where these were published. Bringing together award details, citations, and Gazette references in a single volume, Brown's register provides a detailed record of the men who received the DCM and the acts of gallantry for which they were recognised.
