A hero and role model Ready to race at the Olympics, Eric Liddell was faced with a difficult decision. Would he pursue his own glory or God's glory? Having qualified for the Olympics in Paris, Eric was on the verge of fame. But with that fame came trouble as he fought to stand up for his Christian faith. Eric's strong belief in keeping the Lord's Day as a day of worship was challenged when his 100 metres race was scheduled for the Sunday. Despite all his training, he refused to run in the race. Had all his preparation been for nothing? Eric's life was so much more than medals and fame - his whole life was a race for God. He set aside his own chance of glory for the sake of God's glory. But the story doesn't end there... having stepped down from the race he had trained for, he ended up winning a different race: the 400 metres! In this gripping biography, John Keddie inspires the next generation with the story of Eric's strength of conviction and his sporting achievement.
