Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

11,300 years ago Stone Age people made deer masks that they cast into the lake. Thousands of years later they were excavated by archaeologists creating an ancient mystery. This is a story of our narrator Vlad Flea, his friend Clum the wolf and their Stone Age family navigating their way to Yorkshire for the new hunting season. Their adventure shows how early humans survived after the Ice Age in a time of change and uncertainty and how the masks and pendants found at Star Carr may have been used. Vlad and the Stone Age is a beautifully hand-illustrated story that shows archaeological artifacts in context. Along the way the adventurers pass through Creswell Crags and see the cave art left by those who were ancient to them. There will be food, danger and celebrations, but will they become a snack for a hungry cave bear?Do you want to know what life was like 11,000 years ago?Research shows that stories are many times more memorable than cold facts, which is why we created the Flea in History series, so children learn history through stories. Each book is meticulously researched and show how people lived in the Mesolithic era. In Vlad and the Stone Age the story features artifacts from the archaeological digs at Star Carr, including the mysterious deer masks, shale pendant, weapons such as spear throwers, evidence of their homes and what they ate. Look inside the life of Stone Age people, their environment, the animals they lived with and the traces they left behind. The book finishes with a fact file that includes information about the setting, archaeological finds, and research behind the story.
