Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"Zoë is why I became interested in the Slits again...it's about time the Slits got the respect they deserve."-- Viv AlbertineWild, defiant and startlingly inventive, The Slits were ahead of their time. Despite their innovative fusion of genres--from dub reggae to punk, African rhythms, funk and free jazz--they were dismissed as being "unable to play". Lyrically witty and incisively perceptive, their hugely influential album challenged perceptions of women in music and girl bands, inspiring generations of women to pick up instruments and rage against the status quo.Author Zoë Howe speaks to The Slits themselves, to former manager Don Letts, mentor and PIL guitarist Keith Levene and many other friends and collaborators. Typical Girls discovers the origins of the Slits phenomenon, following the group's rise as the "first ladies of punk", celebrating the legacy of a seminal band long overdue its rightful acclaim. An essential addition to the Omnibus Remastered series, Zoë Howe's updated biography rightfully situates The Slits in the annals of popular music history.
