Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Robert is an American soldier stationed in a Rome recently liberated by the Allies and now reeling in post-war uncertainty. He desires something more than the tawdry wares circulating on the city's rapidly expanding black market and the transitory pleasures on sale from leggy women lining the streets of the Eternal City. He wants a clean, comfortable bed, some semblance of normality, a girl waiting for him at the end of the day. Lisa is the pretty young woman Mamma Adele recommends. The passion Robert and Lisa feel for one another is fueled by their separate, desperate needs; but with so much pain and bloodshed in their recent pasts, can love between victor and vanquished ever blossom?A classic love story informed by the dramatic consequences of war, as relevant today as it was when first published, Alfred Hayes' The Girl on the Via Flaminia is a rewarding tale of loneliness, love and redemption.
