Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

This 10th anniversary edition of the award-winning book chronicles the rise of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf--the first woman elected to lead an African nation--as one of the most inspiring stories of our time. With gripping anecdotes, Levinson describes working in some of the world's most dangerous places, from Mogadishu to Baghdad, while lobbying behind the scenes for the exiled Sirleaf in Washington, D.C. and on the ground in Liberia. It took three tries before Sirleaf finally won the presidency in 2005. Since then, President Sirleaf--2011 Nobel Peace Prize laureate--has transformed her war-ravaged country into a post-conflict success story. A bird's-eye view of Washington lobbying, public relations, and the making of U.S. foreign policy, this is an exciting narrative about one woman's struggle to secure a future for Liberia.
