Introduction to "Sui Shi Hou Ming" (Simplified Chinese Translation of "Available: Any Bush Will Do" by Doris Ekblad-Olson)"It is not our working FOR God that counts, but His working THROUGH us... When we trust Him to do His work through us, He often does remarkable things beyond our expectations. Then HE gets the glory."("Available: Any Bush Will Do", p. 136)This book tells an inspiring story of a dedicated life and the miraculous provision of God. It is Doris Ekblad-Olson's testimony to God's faithfulness, humor, guidance, protection, and loving care, evident in places such as America, Hong Kong, mainland China, Mongolia, Canada, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, Panama, India, and Russia. This Simplified Chinese version is based on the 2015 Traditional Chinese translation of her book, "Available: Any Bush Will Do."Doris Ekblad-Olson, known by her Chinese name Xu Deli, spent part of her early childhood in Inner Mongolia with her missionary parents during the 1930s. She has always believed in the profound impact of God's work in the hearts of children. Upon returning to the U.S. at age six, she made a quiet promise: "You don't know it now, Daddy, but some day I'm coming back to help you." This vision has guided her throughout her life. In 1953, she went to Hong Kong as a missionary, participating in church planting, youth evangelism, and seminary teaching until her retirement in 1997. Teachers, students, and alumni of the Hong Kong Evangelical Theological Seminary affectionately referred to her as "Wonder Woman," bearing witness to how the God she serves transforms ordinary lives into legends. This book provides a unique opportunity to connect the dots, revealing the incredible tapestry that God has woven through Doris to touch the lives of people from all walks of life, transcending culture, race, ethnicity, and language.
