The Evolution of an American Psychiatrist

von William F Kenny

Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

An insightful psychiatrist's memoir with careful reflection on the theory and practice of psychiatry, case studies and selected articles published over a diverse career. "...childhood's time is rekindled in the ashes of lost opportunities. As each person is encouraged to share their needs, the fear of rejection pales and loving is risked again. This I believe is the essence of the healing experience: to be able to be who we are in the presence of another." "Listening is like standing quietly in a hurricane. Everything is moving and there is no ground to shape individual identity. Accusations fly in the wind, uprooting defences and causing even greater awareness. My first task is to create a safe haven for the human voice. I do this by insisting that they accept me as a listener and not as a judge."
