Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Here are forty portraits of women and men that the author met by chance or sought out. Olivier Charneux is a writer and introduces himself as such to these people who do not know him yet agree to confide in him. Some set out to explore the world and lost part of themselves in the process; others dedicated themselves to, and grew through their work. Life treated some of them well, while some have suffered greatly. For some, love has been an illumination for others a tragedy, and for others it is political activism that brought self-fulfillment. In each one of them there is energy, courage or madness. The miracle of these encounters is that they assert the power of life-as-change.To refuse to give-up, to believe in one's dreams; not to be afraid - there is the heroism of these people's journey through life. The people that Olivier Charneux met are from a diversity of ages and backgrounds, social as well as religious. They form a portrait of today's France. The author merely crossed their path, but his stories demonstrate the great care and generous curiosity with which he conducts his exploration of the human condition.Olivier Charneux was born in 1963 in Charleville-Mézières. He has published two novels with Stock, La grande vie and Les dernières volontés. He also published two autobiographical novels with Seuil: L'Enfant de la pluie et Être un homme. Charneux is also a playwright.
