Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Baghadi is the head of Islamic State and the most wanted man on the planet. Sofia Amara set out to find him and gathered extraordinary first-hand accounts.Baghadi has succeeded with what even Ben Laden did not attempt: establishing an embryonic state across a territory the size of Great Britain. A Jihadistan that welcomes fighters from the four corners of the world. But he remains a mystery and is still untraceable. Who is Abu Bakr al Baghdadi ?There are only a few photos of him, and a propaganda video. He only ever appears heavily hooded, and his own aides call him "the ghost". The author embarks on a perilous enquiry during which she meets the caliph's ex-wife, his two Yazidi former sex slaves, his school and university friends, his co-detainees, the Iraqi authorities and imprisoned Jihadis who have spent time with him. Here she lifts the veil on the identity of the Caliph of terror.Nicknamed Maradona by his schoolfriends because his only gift seemed to be on the football pitch, later a discreet and unremarkable student who dreamed of becoming a lawyer, how did a spell in the American Bucca prison - known as the "school of Jihad" - turn this man into public enemy number One?
