Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

School is out. Home is waiting. First, there is quite a journey to make. For a group of boarding-school children, getting home from Britain to Africa means buses, trains, airports and planes—with heavy cases, paper tickets and one much-loved Teddy to keep track of. There are no mobile phones or personal screens to pass the time. Instead, there are games, laughter, cockpit visits, little log books and plenty of opportunities for mischief. A lucky discovery at a chocolate machine brings unexpected complications. Aunty Air Hostess has her hands full. And Teddy somehow finds himself travelling in rather more comfort than his owner. Keeping themselves occupied is easy. Keeping quiet is another matter. Inspired by Deborah Rosador’s childhood memories, The School Holiday Lollipop Run is a warm and funny illustrated chapter book about the long journey home. Told through a child’s eyes, it captures the excitement, the waiting, the small worries and the kindness of the grown-ups helping the children along the way. Large, richly detailed colour illustrations run through all eight chapters, with plenty to spot in the busy stations, aircraft cabins and airport scenes. The generous 7 × 10-inch format gives readers room to explore the pictures as well as enjoy the words. A chapter-book adventure for readers aged 8–12, and a story for younger children to enjoy when read aloud by a grown-up. Share the journey together, with time to explore the colourful pictures, laugh at the mishaps and talk about what happens along the way. Playful questions at the back invite children to look again, share ideas, investigate unfamiliar words and draw their own responses. Grown-ups may find a few familiar memories along the way, too. A story about friendship, kindness, mischief and the wonderful feeling of going home. Finally Home! A story to read, share, talk about and remember.
