The following is the summary of a research project still in progress dealing with structural relationships between physics and metaphysics that have become relevant recently with a view to fundamental problems concerning the initial emergence of the world. This aspect is also connected to all the other emergent phenomena taking place within the world as we know it such as the emergence of life or the emergence of consciousness, respectively. The difference between the latter and the emergence of the world altogether is primarily in the conceptual approach. This is because life and consciousness can be dealt with in terms of worldly categories such as energy-mass (matter) and entropy-structure (information) while the initial emergence of the world refers back to a fundamental ground which is not subject to these categories but eventually creates them in the first place. This topic has been an ancient topic of theoretical philosophy for a long time, but recently it has been found that similar problems show up within theoretical physics when asking for the origin of the universe. Hence, during the last decade, there has been a progressing convergence of thinking in these traditionally separated fields of research. In the following this convergence shall be illuminated in some detail choosing a truly interdisciplinary approach.
